I did a lot of research before buying from this vendor, and the quality is likely superior for the following reasons:
Metal propeller. Other products have a plastic prop and include a backup one, which is a red flag to me
Propeller protector. That seems like a nice add-on
Adjustable handle. This upgrade works very well.
4-stroke. Allowed on more lakes, less pollution, no mixing oil and gas
Other reviews mentioned customer service, I had a question and they answered promptly and thoroughly
It is also taller than some other engines in the same price range
Nothing has broken and it runs great so far!
It's definitely a budget product, so I don't expect it to work as well as a $1000 Honda motor, but it gets the job done!
I bought this outboard to throw on the back of my 117 kayak for fun. All I had to do was fill engine and gearbox with oil, add gas and fired right up first pull. Seems to be really good quality for the price. Was able to go just over 4 miles on half a tank. Took it out a couple times now and no issues. Gets me to about 7-8 mph
Used once so far. Adding oil to lower gear box is very tricky.Prop cage is useless and flimsy, broke very quickly before putting in water and dont thinknit would have stayed on.Motor starts and runs fine. Easy to start withbchoke and when primed.Power is ok. Says 4 hp, but based out power specs, likely closer to 2.5. Max speed i got was 4.5 mph, but pushing 2000lbs (sailboat kicker)Ran bit higher than mid power 4mph, and used half tank going about 4 miles. Not too bad. Turning up power (revs) didnt equal more speed in my application, no need tobrun wide open for an extra .3-.4 mph.Biggest issue, shaft is barely long enough for my needs. Barely.And the spin it around for reverse isnt ideal and tricky.But decided to keep. Only reason its better than my 55lb trolling motor is no range anxiety, little quicker, little more power.
I bought this motor without any idea how good it was or how reliable the company was, but decided to try it and am glad I did. The most important thing I appreciated about this company (CUKUSIN) is their GREAT customer service! It did take a while for the motor to arrive, and after I put it together, I felt it could start a little easier and the throttle acceleration should engage sooner and be more responsive. I contacted the company and received an immediate reply to my issues which led to the service department sending me 2 videos on how to deal with my issues. By following the guidance and direction I received and making a few adjustments, the motor performed much better as I expected it should! I am quite pleased and expect it will run and perform as well when I try it on a boat in the water (it has been raining for 2 weeks straight here)! I do feel very confident if I have any problems in the future, customer service will definitely be there for help!
